Morning Comes Without Warning brings together a series of watercolours on newspaper by French-American artist Stephen Dean.
Using crossword puzzles, weather maps and the classified sections from various national and international newspapers as a starting point, the artists' spontaneous compositions of color, words, numbers, and lines, are works of splendour, play and rhythm. Creating abstract works that challenge the newspapers' rigid boundaries and structure.
Morning Comes Without Warning is an ode to color form and materiality, recurrent themes in the artist practice. Made up of three series, Help Wanted, Crosswords and Weather Maps, this publication recompiles more than 40 watercolours spanning more than 15 years of work.
